For an amends, when a letter is not enough and saying it out loud is harder than it should be. A map of somewhere that belongs to the person you are giving it to - where they live, where you both used to go - and a small printed code that plays a message you recorded yourself. Record it as many times as you need; nobody hears the drafts, and only the last one ships. It asks for nothing back, which is the only way this works.
